QUALIFICATIONS: DMD/DDS degree from a dental school accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the ADA.  Requires a minimum of two years’ experience post-residency as a general family practitioner in the private or public health sectors.  CAD/CAM and Implant Placement experience preferred.  Idaho State Dental License, DEA Registration, and Controlled Substance Registration eligibility are required.

ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Hearing: within normal limits with or without use of corrective hearing devices.
  • Vision: adequate to read 12-point type with or without use of corrective lenses.
  • Must be able to verbally interact with staff, clients and public.
  • Manual dexterity of hands/fingers for writing, computer input.
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Sitting 25 to 75 % of the day.
  • Stand/Walking 25% of the day.
  • Pushing up to 30 lbs.
  • Pulling up to 20 lbs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains a positive peer relationship and performs as a team player.
  • Plans and prioritizes to maintain a time and attendance record which complies with company policy.
  • Provides excellent internal and external customer service assistance, providing knowledgeable and appropriate information to patients, the teams and community.
  • Works independently in a very detail oriented manner, and meets deadlines.

  • Employee reports to work in a timely manner.
  • Employee utilizes breaks and meal periods to care for personal business outside of the work area.

  • Employee appropriately utilizes Time and Attendance for clocking in and out and schedules absences in advance when possible.
  • Employee is available for scheduled work shifts regularly and communicates absence to supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Available to provide patient care from 8:00 am until 6:00 pm.
  • Attend 7:45 am huddle having reviewed charts, and prepared for the day.
  • Participate actively and productively in staff meetings.
  • Treat emergency patients as the schedule allows, focusing on quality care and compassion.
  • Perform “on the job” training of auxiliary staff members for professional growth and development.
  • Support and utilize expanded functions of all certified staff.
  • Oversees auxiliary staff performance on a daily basis, providing clear feedback on positive and negative behaviors, in accordance with clinic policy and standards of care.
  • Follows policy on telephone usage, limiting personal calls to emergency situations.
  • Follows policy on computer usage: Dental Department computers are to be used for departmental/company use only.
  • Follows strict adherence to the ethics and Code of Conduct as established by the ADA, Idaho State Board of Dental Examiners and the organization.
  • Maintains compliance with annual continuing education and CPR requirements as established by the Idaho State Board of Dental Examiners.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with dental and medical professionals in the community.
  • Provide comprehensive dental services to all patients in a non-discriminatory, confidential and professional atmosphere.
  • Maintain obligation of staying on time with appointed patients.
  • Maintains complete and thorough documentation of treatment plans, medical histories, treatments rendered and patient interactions in the appropriate section of the patient record.
  • Practices appropriate prescription writing for narcotic and antibiotic medications as established by published Standards of Care.
  • Ensure local anesthetic solutions have current expiration dates.
  • Diagnose accurately patient’s dental conditions with an eye toward total patient health.
  • Presents comprehensive treatment plans that provide for the full scope of family dentistry services and quality patient care.
  • Provides patient services with clinical competence, compassion and caring communication.
  • Responsible for maximizing clinical procedures during all scheduled appointment times.
  • Adequately utilizes the “quick call” list to fill cancelled/no show appointments.
  • Proactively strategizes and treats emergency patients as the schedule allows.
  • Serves as a functional and positive member of the Dental team especially in regarding the total Dental department plans and objectives.
  • Utilizes and maximizes equipment and resources available in the best interest/stewardship of the patient.
