QUALIFICATIONS:

The Boys and Girls Club Manager will oversee all programming targeted at youth ages 0-18. Manager will ensure programming is engaging to youth, culturally relevant and in alignment with Marimn Health goals and objectives in serving the community’s youth. Manager will oversee and lead Boys & Girls Club program development and implementation; staff development; supervision and program oversight.

This is an exempt position serving Tribal and non- Tribal youth. A Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, child development or a related field is preferred.  Minimum of 5 years professional work with children and families required, Boys & Girls Club program leadership preferred. Previous experience managing a youth program(s) required.  Experience running a Boys and Girls Club with Native Services programming preferred. Excellent customer service and a dedication to serving the community’s youth are critical. Ability to engage youth through culturally relevant programming serve youth in the efforts of holistic health and wellness, overcoming barriers and trauma inherent in the community.  Minimum of three years of management or staff supervision is required. Previous experience with educational/recreational curriculum development, program evaluation, data collection and reporting required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans and prioritizes to maintain a time and attendance record which complies with company policy.
  • Provides excellent internal and external customer service assistance, providing knowledgeable and appropriate information to customers.
  • Works independently in a very detail oriented manner, and meet deadlines.
  • Actively engage Wellness/Coeur Center Departments to expand quality programing for Boys and Girls Club.
  • Engage tribal and partner organizations to expand holistic, trauma informed programming to community youth.
  • Employee reports to work on time.
  • Employee utilizes breaks and meal periods to care for personal business outside of the work area.
  • Employee completes work assignments in a timely manner and appropriately exits the work area in a timely manner.
  • Employee appropriately utilizes Time and Attendance for clocking in and out and schedules absences in advance when possible.
  • Employee is reliably available for a variety of shifts during Wellness/Coeur Center operational hours.
  • Consistently promotes a positive, professional image of Marimn Health at all times and provides consistent high-quality customer service to all patrons using the Wellness/Coeur Center and Boys & Girls Club of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe.
  • Perform and manage every aspect of the youth programming and operations, including developing, organizing, coordinating, and managing Boys & Girls Club, Tribal Youth Council, Rockin’ the Rez, K-1 Kids Club, Aquatics/Sports/Recreation programming opportunities.
  • Work with Marimn Health supervisory/management team to manage and schedule the programming of all youth programming in conjunction with other events and activities.
  • Directly supervise, schedule, and evaluate staff, and volunteers, including correcting work deficiencies, issuing corrective actions in compliance with organization guidelines, and recommending disciplinary action to the Wellness Services Director.
  • Build department staffing schedule and review and approve leave requests in adherence with Marimn Health leave policy. Review and submit accurate time sheets for all staff.
  • Participate in activities, events and related duties personally.
  • Train and supervise employees, youth leaders, and volunteers performing youth/recreation activities as necessary to ensure effective and safe operations.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance, including but not limited to, policies and procedures; legal and regulatory compliance; and developing, implementing and managing the BGCA program administration and operation.
  • Consistently demonstrate positive, effective communication skills and interactions with the Wellness Services Director, Wellness Services Operations team, employees, members, volunteers, other agencies and organizations.
  • Demonstrate analytical and problem solving skills, including the ability to collect, integrate, analyze, and use data and information, and compare and evaluate possible actions or courses of conduct based upon such analysis.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of and comply with Marimn Health policies and procedures, including the rules, policies and procedures contained in the Wellness/Coeur Center Member Handbook, and consistently and appropriately enforce them.
  • Establish and build a Boys & Girls Club policy manual, ensuring staff training and adherence.
  • Assist with developing the BGC portion of the annual budget for Health Board consideration and approval.
  • Assist as needed in Wellness/Coeur Center special events/activities.
    • In the absence of the Wellness Services Director may serve as the acting Director or Manager on Duty.
    • Responsible for the advising and coordinating activities for the Coeur d’ Alene Tribal Youth Council.
    • Assists in the training, supervising and evaluation of the work of staff & volunteers participating in the Boys & Girls Club, and Recreational Programming, Rockin’ the Rez Summer Day Camp, K-1 Kids Club and Tribal Youth Council.
    • Responsible for monitoring and ensuring the safety and welfare of all members accessing services.
    • Oversee and manage staff schedules and programming for all youth/teen activities and events such as field trips, dances, youth sport activities etc.
    • Works closely with the Wellness Services management team assisting with annual programming calendar, community awareness, marketing, and community relations.
    • Oversee and manage Coeur Center Kitchen Lead, staying abreast of inventory, ordering, and Club needs.
    • Stays within budget and grant parameters of the program unless variance authorized.
    • Purchases, inventories, maintains and organizes all program supplies and equipment.
    • Attends required staff meetings and serves on assigned committees and prepares reports as requested.
    • Responds in a timely manner to assignments and communicates with Director when timelines cannot be met.
    • Recruits and solicits community volunteers and resources for special events to supplement program.
    • Responsible for the scheduling and coordinating of all guest presenters. Negotiates and assures contracts are approved prior to beginning program.
    • Ensures programs and activities are culturally appropriate and that all children and participants are treated with respect and dignity.
  • Must be willing to work hours of a youth focused program including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Ensures Club areas meet health, safety and cleanliness guidelines, following all safe handling of chemicals.
  • Handles and resolves all Member issues or concerns relating to Club programming and services.
  • Directly supervises Club programming ensuring all accidents/incidents are reported and documented adhering to organizational policy and procedure reporting timelines, consulting with Wellness Services Director as needed.
  • Makes recommendations for equipment, supplies and maintenance needs of the program.
    • Work and direct others to work in a safe manner.
    • Other duties as assigned.
