QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED required. Experience working with homelessness, substance use, or mental health challenges preferred. Strong interpersonal and crisis management skills. Ability to remain awake and alert throughout overnight shifts. CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Ability to pass background checks and drug screenings, must have received or be willing to receive COVID19 vaccination per current hiring policies.

 

ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Hearing: within normal limits with or without use of corrective hearing devices.
  • Vision: adequate to read 12-point type with or without use of corrective lenses.
  • Must be able to verbally interact with staff, clients, and public.
  • Manual dexterity of hands/fingers for writing and data entry.
  • Able to lift to 25 lbs.
  • Standing 25% of the day.
  • Walking 25% of the day.
  • Pushing up to 50 lbs.
  • Pulling up to 50 lbs.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor guest behavior and enforce shelter rules to maintain a safe and respectful environment.
  • Conduct regular patrols of sleeping areas, restrooms, and facility perimeter,
  • Assist guests with overnight needs, including distributing bedding, food, and hygiene items.
  • Ensure all guests vacate the shelter by designated morning hours.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of shelter spaces.
  • Ensure soup is available for guests each evening and coffee each morning.
  • Complete shift reports, incident documentation, and guest logs.
  • Basic housekeeping, sanitation, laundry (bedding, towels/etc.)
  • Set up and break down sleeping areas and common spaces.
  • Secure guest belongings and manage access to the shelter.
  • Communicate guest needs, concerns, and incidents to supervisor promptly.
